UltraSense Research Advances Sustainable Sensor Integration for Microfluidic Monitoring

Researchers from VTT, a partner in the UltraSense project, have contributed to a new scientific publication entitled Eco-conscious scalable interconnects and embedded capacitive sensors for non-contact microfluidic monitoring, published in Materials & Design.

The study investigates novel approaches for integrating embedded capacitive sensors and interconnects into microfluidic systems while considering scalability and environmental sustainability. Such technologies are increasingly relevant for the development of next-generation healthcare and sensing devices, where reliable monitoring capabilities must be combined with manufacturing processes suitable for large-scale production.

Microfluidic platforms enable the handling and analysis of small volumes of fluids and have attracted significant interest for healthcare, diagnostics and wearable sensing applications. The research explores sensor integration strategies that support non-contact monitoring while contributing to more sustainable device fabrication approaches.

Within UltraSense, advances in sensor integration and manufacturing technologies are essential for the development of flexible and user-friendly health monitoring solutions. The work carried out by VTT contributes valuable knowledge towards the implementation of innovative sensing systems that combine performance, scalability and environmental responsibility.

The UltraSense consortium congratulates the VTT research team on this contribution and their continued efforts to advance sustainable technologies for future sensing and healthcare applications.
